Summary

This project reviewed the current state-of-the-art of industrial X-ray Computed Tomography with a focus on its application for non-destructive testing and dimensional metrology. Relevant standards and the application of X-ray CT to additive manufacturing – a process of particular interest currently to MTC members – were included in the review. X-ray CT is an attractive solution for non-destructive inspection of parts manufactured by additive processes. However, the need is greater than for other manufacturing processes due to the complexity of the geometries that additive processes can generate.
