This project phase focused on using simulation to improve the data analysis in an image-based inspection modality, exemplified by radiography, in contrast to the preceding phase that focused on improving the inspection design and hence data acquisition. The overall aim of the project series was to develop and demonstrate an inspection approach that exploits computing power to obtain an application-specific inspection capability that is optimally cost effective, generally outperforming conventional options currently available when applied to test pieces of great geometric complexity.
