summary

Despite the advancement of additive manufacturing (AM), one of the challenges that is still faced by the AM community is clarity on how to assess the AM technology readiness level for use. The scope of this project is currently focusing on four different metal laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) platforms.

The main reasons for demonstrating a process or technology is repeatable, reproducible and stable are to:

  • Ensure safety of the product for the consumers, operators, public, assets and the environment,
  • Ensure products manufactured with multiple AM platforms produce consistent results as per design and manufacture intent,
  • Demonstrate the product assurance and ensure the component or part is manufactured accordingly for the intended application.
